Sunday 30 October 2011

Yay! Blog hop day is here!

Yep here we are Sunday 30 October and Crafty Sentiments Design is now 2 years old and for the past 4 days we have been previewing the new stamps that are available from today.

Today we are showing you another new stamp this one is 'Annabel ~ Hitting The Books' and is just adorable (actually the steps are a separate stamp but they are perfect together!)  Now you should have got here from Suzette main blog which is the starting point of our hop.  Now dont forget to be in with a chance of winning 2 of these wonderful new stamps you have to leave some love at all the DT blogs and then pop back to Suzettes blog and make sure you have remembered to put the banner in the side bar on your own blog.

Right so for my card I have used coredinations cs and papermania paper, my image is coloured with copics and I have added glossy accents to Annabels glasses.  The sentiment is a freebie stamp from a magazine and I have stamped it onto the Crafty Cutters Vintage Label diecut and my flower is actually made from the Crafty Cutters Fancy Hearts border (both of these dies are available at Crafty Sentiments Design ) diecut which I have then concertinered just so that you can see how versatile these border dies are.  Then mounted it onto some more of the cs and added a button and some wire.

Ok so the next stop on your hop is  Shell and should you happen to get lost along the way pop back to Suzettes blog she has the full list for you.  Happy Hopping.

I would also like to enter my card into the following challenge:
Sweet Stampin' ~ Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop. xx

Birthday Previews Day 4 ~ Billy Presents

Whoo hoo day 4 of the Crafty Sentiments Design Birthday previews and today is the turn of  'Billy ~ Presents'  I hope your enjoying all our fun previews and are looking forward to the hop on Sunday.Well today is the turn of Billy and this time he has some presents.  I have used copics for colouring and some ink for the background of the stamped image.  I used the out of the box technique for cutting the image out using a Go Create die, then used the next size up for the mat and embossed it with stars.  My colour choices were decided because I really wanted to use the bright stripy paper and now its finished I'm glad I did.  The sentiment is stamped on to blue cs cut using the Crafty Cutters Vintage Label die available at Crafty Sentiments Designs, I love that die! then I just embellished really simply with card candi (coloured the blue with copics to match)

Don't forget to stop by the other DT members who are showcasing 'Billy ~ Presents' today, they are: Suzette, Jan, Bunny, Heather  and dont forget tomorrow is our Birthday Hop and you wont want to miss that!

Whoo hoo day 3 of the Crafty Sentiments Design Birthday previews and today is the turn of  'Annabel Yummy Treat'  I hope your enjoying all our fun previews and are looking forward to the hop on Sunday.

Todays card uses the beautiful 'Annabel Yummy Treat' and 'cake' coloured using copics and a bit of sparkle added with sakura stardust, my papers are DCVW glitter stack, I have also used a Crafty Cutters Vintage lable die and 2 sentiments from the recent digital sentiment set 'Birthday Set' both available at Crafty Sentiments Designs, the ribbon was cream but I coloured it with my copics as I just didnt have the right piece in my ribbon box (even after finding loads the other day when I was sorting out! how typical is that! lol) then I added some card candi and a little present charm.

Don't forget to stop by the other DT members who are showcasing 'Annabel Yummy Treat' today they are: Suzette, Jan, Hazel, Jo

Birthday Previews Day 2 ~ Billy Back to School

Here we are at day 2 of Crafty Sentiments Design Birthday previews, did you enjoy the wonderful samples from the DT yesterday? Gorgeous weren't they.  Well today we are previewing 'Billy Back to School'.  And don't forget you can also preorder the wonderful border dies, there is a choice of 2.

For my card I coloured Billy using my copics, the blue cs is actually shiny and came in a 6x6 scrapbook kit which I actually only wanted for the album but the cs has been in the drawer for ages and it fitted this card just right, the patterned piece is DCWV glitter stack and to that I have added some orange organza ribbon and star tag some wire, a couple of brads and some buttons that I have had hanging around for ages.  These images really are fab to work with.

Don't forget to stop by the other DT members who are showcasing Billy Back to School today they are:   Suzette, Jan, Bunny, Axa.

Dont forget to come back again tomorrow for the next preview.

Birthday Previews Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of the birthday release previews of stamps that will be available at Crafty Sentiments Designs on Sunday 30 October when Crafty Sentiments turns 2.  Now not only are there these wonderful stamps but if you head over to the store you will see there are 2 beautiful border dies that you can preorder, Fancy hearts and Fancy Floral, absolutely gorgeous and a great price too at only £9 each.

Well we are starting with a stunner of an image, this is 'Annabel Happy Days' and I think she is just adorable and when I saw her sat on her swing I really wanted to put her into an aperture so that she is 'swinging'  The roses that were in my stash are where I got my colour inspiration from and really felt that the card did not require anything else.  Annabel is coloured with copics and a tiny amount of sakura stardust.  I really like how this turned out.

Please stop by the other DT memebers who are previewing today, they are: Suzette, Shell, Jan, Dora, Hazel, Jo
I would like to enter my card into the following challenge:

Right and now onto this weeks challenge which I am hosting and I have chosen the theme of No Designer Papers.  Now this used to be a theme that terrified me, now I actually quite enjoy it!  For my card I have embossed a piece of white card using a fiskars texture plate called 'whimsy' which I then inked round the edges.  I used the digital image of 'Sally' available at Crafty Sentiments Designs and coloured her with my copics and just a touch of sakura stardust then cut her out using a Nellie's Multi Frame and while the image was still in the die I did some light sponging, the flowers and charm are all from my stash.

Well thats what I did, pop over to the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT have been up to, you wont be disappointed and I hope you will join us for the challenge, we love coming to see what you have been up to and dont forget to pop back tomorrow when we start our 5 days of previews.

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 14 ~ Two Toned or Tonal

Gosh I cant believe its been so long since I actually posted!  Well there is a reason (couple actually!) firstly I have had dodgy internet and wireless goings on or not going on to be more precise and after lots of long phone calls we seem to have it sorted for the time being so keep your fingers crossed for me!  Secondly did you see the banner at the top of the page? NO! why not its pretty big!  Well FYI Crafty Sentiments Designs will be 2 on 30 October and to celebrate there will be a release of new stamps and we are having 5 days of previews from 26 - 30 October culminating in a Birthday Blog Hop on Sunday, we are all so excited and I have been busy making cards for the previews as I am going to be at work Tues-Fri so wanted to get uber organsied (especially for me!)  So that is why I havent been around.

Now talking of being uber organised I have even managed to complete my HeART Journal page with time to spare!  Actually I say I but this week Ria has been able to get involved too as she is on half term so not totally bogged down with homework!  The theme this week is Two Toned or Tonal and as soon as I saw the theme it was screaming SKA at me.  I love Ska music (amongst others) and when I was a bit younger was really into the music and was even a bit of a Mod (2nd time around I might add! lol)  Now I didnt really do the little skirts (never quite skinny enough) but did do ski pants and black cardigans which we all used to button up then stitch them so as not to come undone and wear them back to front so the 'V' and buttons went down the back.  Used to think it look uber cool! lol Anyway our journal page this week is a bit of an homage to the music of my youth.  Ria very patiently did the paper weaving and then trawled the internet for the selection of images.  Really like how this page turned out and how it revived old memories.

Well thanks for stopping by and joining us on our journal journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 13 ~ Lucky Number

Well I struggled this week with the 'Lucky Number' theme for the heArt Journal, dont really think of lucky numbers as such so in the end I went for a snapshot of the numbers that are relevant at this particular moment in time.  The background paper is from a digi kit by SWEET Blossom Designs and its called 'numb3rs' then I have hand written the rest with the addition of a couple of stickers and the scrabble tiles.

Thanks for joining us on on our journal journey. xx
Now I'm off to buy some crickets for the dragons and back for more sorting!

Taking a break!

Well I am on annual leave this week and have a cold (which is typical) so I decided that my craft room needed an overhaul! So far so good, have found that I have more ribbon than I ever imagined and I have cleared out the piles and piles of magaizines that have been sitting around for a very and I mean a very long time!  So I started on this card last night working in a very small space on my desk with allsorts piled around me hoping it wouldn't all fall in on me and well I got to a point last night when it really just wasn't happening - do you ever get that?  So I went to bed and have tackled it again this morning and everything just fell into place (I still have the piles of stuff on my desk to sort yet tho! lol) The image funnily enough is Primrose ~ Take a Break which is a stamp available at Crafty Sentiments Designs which is also where the sentiment stamp and Vintage Label die are available.  The papers are BG Sugared, the flowers, gems and wire are all from my stash, I love the look of wire on cards but never seem to use it enough myself, must remedy that! lol

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Totally Gorjuss #102 ~ Bingo ~ Flowers, swirls & bling
Stamptacular Sunday #134 ~ You Choose

Thanks for stopping by and now I must get sorting again but I hope to be back doing some more crafting later on. xx

Halloween card

Well Halloween is just round the corner and even though we dont go in for it in a big way here, just a bit of trick or treating I decided to make a card for several challenges that are going on at the moment.  I have used some digi paper by Raspberry Road Designs and stuck on some ghost and cat confetti which I then covered with some purple vellum which I stitched in place.  The ribbon I found in my box of ribbons which I have been having a sort thru and I added some bright orange buttons to it to tie in with the bright orange Boo! on the black pocket I then added a wee ghost coming out of the pocket the image is a digi image from Crafty Sentiments Designs.

Well I just had to use him for my card this week!  I coloured the image with copics and then added some glamour dust to his hat and scarf and then got my flowersoft out for the snow.  My papers are Papermania (couple of years old now at least!) and for the cs background I stamped with green pigment ink and embossed with silver pearl powder and did the same with the sentiment which is stamped onto a cut out using the Crafty Cutters Vintage Lable die (available at Crafty Sentiments Designs) then added some christmassy ribbon.   Dont forget to check out the Crafty Sentiments blog and see what the rest of the DT have been up to this week with their 'snowmen' you wont be disappointed.

Anyone For Anya ~ Picture Inspiration

This week over at Anyone For Anya there is a picture to take inspiration from and I was inspired by the colours and they made me think of my DCWV Natural stack with foils.  I love these papers.  Anyway after choosing my papers I felt I needed a wee man for my image and after some deliberation I settled on Jeremy from the Roll Call collection.  Coloured with my copics.  A little bit of ribbon and some cogs added and it was done.  The cogs are Spellbinders Shapeabilities and I love 'em!lol (great for male cards and doing steampunk)  Ria did say if only he had some goggles on his head it would be a great steampunk card! lol

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 12 ~ Watercolour Wonder

Gosh I was stuck this week when i saw the theme for TGF heART Journal, watercolours are not a medium I really delve into very much (a little with my wc pencils but thats about it! lol)  So took a while to work out what to do, I was thinking about trying to create a background wash going from grass up to sky and bits inbetween but while I was thinking about and looking out of my craftroom window I was inspired by the gardens and fields around with their autumnal colours and the trees so that was how the page was born!  I used some very old leaf stamps by Royal Langnickel stamped with clear embossing ink then heat embossed using silver pearl powder, the sentiment is a freebie from Sentimental Sundays and then I used some very old paints that I bought when I was starting out and they were the closest I could get to paints like twinkling H2Os! after painting I buffed up the embossed leaves with some cotton wool.  I'm actually pleased with how this turned out and this journal is certainly making us think a bit! lol

I would like to enter this journal page into the following challenges:

For my card I coloured Herbie using my copics and coloured in a swirly motion to try and give the appearance of fur texture also added a little bit of glitz using stardust pens.  The pp is MME Wonderful Winter glitter papers.  The sentiment is a stamp which I stamped onto the Crafty Cutters Vintage Labels die available at the Crafty Sentiments store then just added some holly leaves and pearls from my stash.

Sketch Time at Crafty Sentiments

Good morning to you all, well here we are it's Tuesday and that means its time for a new challenge over at Crafty Sentiments and this week its a sketch.  The thing I love about sketches is how different everyones cards are even though they have used the same sketch!  Here is the sketch
and here is my card using the sketch.  I have tried to give my whole card a vintage feel even though my image is modern and cute.  My papers are Bo Bunny and the music paper is from an old music magazine that I bought in a charity shop.  I have coloured my image of Billy & Primrose 'A Christmas Song', available at the Crafty Sentiments Store, with copics and tried to keep the colours muted, once I had finished colouring I rubbed over the whole image using a cotton wool ball and caramel ink and then distressed the edges and inked over them with espresso ink, I also distressed and espresso inked all the different layers.  I havent added any other embellishments or sentiment as I really didnt feel that it needed them.

Ok, so you've seen what I have done, dont forget to check the rest of the DTs awesome work over at the Crafty Sentiments challenge blog and then its over to you to join in with the fun and we look forward to visiting your wonderful creations.

Something a little different for me

Ok this week when I saw what the challenge was over at Just Us Girls I wasn't sure about having a go but then thats what challenges are all about at the end of the day, challenging ourselves to try something new so without further ado here is my card for JUGs 'Black Magic' challenge and if your not sure what Black Magic is pop over to the JUGs blog and check it out I'm glad I did! lol

My image is a papermania stamp which I think I've only used once or twice before (I think I may have found a new lease of life for it now! lol) inked in white pigment ink, heat dried and then coloured with wc pencils and a little gel pen for effect.  The sentiment is from PTI and the die cut is the new Crafty Cutter Vintage Label die from Crafty Sentiments.  The cs is all from my scrap drawers and then I added some ribbon and buttons.  Kept the whole thing simple so as not to detract from the image.

Friday Sketch #2

Another great sketch this week over at the new challenge blog Friday Sketch Challenge so I just had to have a go and play along.  I have used a very old sheet of pp from Papermania and some pink and green cs from my scrap drawers.  The Pure Innocence digi image has been coloured with copics and cut out with a nestie, the mats are also nesties and the scalloped piece is a sizzix extended cut.  Did some dry embossing for added texture and finished off with some flowers from my stash, some card candi and a silver peel off sentiment.

a black & white Christmas

Gosh I really dont seem to have had much crafting time recently and feel really behind, but last night I did get the time to put this card together.  I have used a stamp by Sheena Douglas from the Bah! Humbug! 1 set which I won earlier this year but have not inked up until last night.  I inked it with white pigment ink and then heat embossed with clear powder.  When I stamped it I wasn't sure how it would look and its not my usual style but I really like it.  I kept the rest of the card very simple just adding some white organza ribbon and punch some little snowflakes in the corner of the black mat as I wanted the image to stand out.  I really do like the way this turned out and may well be making some more like this!

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 11 ~ Bloom & Grow

Another week of the TGF HeART Journal is coming to an end and this week the theme was Bloom & Grow and this made me think of the saying Mighty Oaks from little acorns grow and then I remembered having the acorn and oak leaf quickutz dies and that was the starting point for the page.  cut the leaves from different colours representing autumn, the journal block is a TGF stamp, the tree is an embossing folder to which I added some ink for definition and hey presto one journal page.

Crafty Sentiments - Flowers, Pearls & Pins

Here we are time for another wonderful challenge with Crafty Sentiments, hope you enjoyed and played along last week.  This week we are looking to see your flowers, pearls and pins.  The DT ladies have made some awesome cards to show you this week.  Now pins are a new thing for me, keep seeing them and liking what I see but never getting round to being brave enough to try it out myself but I finally took the plungs a few weeks ago and liked it!  So this week gave me the chance to try it again!  For my card I have used Primrose blowing bubbles which is available at the Crafty Sentiments Store and I have teamed it up with a sentiment from the recent birthday digi sentiments release.  Primrose is coloured with copics and cut with a nestie, the papers are from First Edition Paper - Daydream, I have used pearls for the bubbles and added some coloured beads to my pearl headed berry pin, the flowers are some sparkly lilac mesh ones from my stash.

So there you have it, and now its your turn, we look forward to coming to see your gorgeous creations using flowers, pearls & pins.

This card is for my daughter who is 15 today, had to keep this one underwraps as she is usually the first person to see my cards when they are finished and therefore she has seen all the ones in my box! lol
